_TRAGEDY STRIKES: Vodacom Bulls Mourn Loss of Young Star, Siphiwe Sithole_
Pretoria, South Africa – The Vodacom Bulls rugby union team is reeling in shock after the sudden passing of talented lock forward, Siphiwe Sithole.
Sithole, 23, died in a car accident on the N1 highway outside Pretoria in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
“We are devastated by the loss of our brother, Siphiwe,” said Jake White, Vodacom Bulls director of rugby. “He was an exceptional young player with a bright future ahead of him.”
Sithole, a product of the Bulls’ youth academy, made his Super Rugby debut in 2022 and quickly established himself as a key player in the team’s pack.
“Siphiwe was an incredible talent, but more importantly, he was an amazing person,” said Bulls captain, Marcell Coetzee. “We’ll miss his energy, his smile, and his love for the game.”
The rugby community has rallied around the Bulls, offering condolences and support.
“We’re deeply saddened by Siphiwe’s passing,” said SA Rugby president, Mark Alexander. “Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and teammates.”

The team’s upcoming match against the Cell C Sharks has been dedicated to Sithole’s memory.
“We’ll play with heavy hearts, but we’ll give it our all for Siphiwe,” said Coetzee.

The South African Police Service is investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
“Our thoughts are with Siphiwe’s family during this difficult time,” said SAPS spokesperson, Brigadier Vish Naidoo.
