Breaking news: The song Paranoid By Black Sabbath rceives award
Black Sabbath is a pioneering British heavy metal band, formed in Birmingham in 1968 by guitarist Tony ommi, drummer Bill Ward, bassist Geezer Butler, and vocalist Ozzy Osbourne. They are often credited as one of the first and most influential heavy metal bands, blending dark, heavy guitar riffs, powerful vocals, and themes centered around doom, occultism, and societal struggles.
Their debut album, Black Sabbath (1970), is widely considered the birth of heavy metal, followed by other classics like Paranoid (1970), which includes iconic songs such as “War Pigs,” “Iron Man,” and “Paranoid.” The band’s sound, driven by Iommi’s down-tuned guitar playing (partially due to an accident that damaged his fingers), defined the heavy, slow, and dark tones that became central to the genre.
Though the lineup changed over time, with Ozzy Osbourne leaving and returning, and other vocalists like Ronnie James Dio joining, Black Sabbath’s influence on heavy metal and rock music remains immense. The band officially retired after their farewell tour, “The End,” in 2017.
