The podcaster thinks Caleb Williams won’t stay in Chicago beyond three years.

Bears fans typically don’t tolerate much criticism of their players from outsiders, whether it comes from local media, national media, or rival fans. It’s the classic attitude of, “Only we’re allowed to criticize our players, not you.”

Despite that, podcaster and former NFL player Ross Tucker took things to another level, angering Bears fans on social media. During his appearance on WSCR’s Mully & Haugh, Tucker did what irritates Bears fans the most—he criticized Caleb Williams. He ended his segment with a disclaimer—whether sincere or not—saying he hopes he’s wrong, but then delivered a sharp and pointed critique.

“Honestly, if I had to place a bet, I’d probably say Caleb Williams won’t be the Bears’ starting quarterback in three years, just judging by what we’ve seen so far,” Tucker told Mike Mulligan and David Haugh.

He started his comments by sharing what he referred to as “bad news.”

“I have serious doubts about Caleb Williams,” he admitted. “Big doubts. It seems to me that more often than not, he makes the wrong decisions.”

This partly summarizes the entire story from Seth Wickersham’s book. It’s hard to disagree with the point about Williams making the wrong move here—he clearly did, if he was actually the one talking to Wickersham. But that’s the key issue.

Tucker said, “We can debate whether it’s a problem that he and his dad considered avoiding the Bears. I don’t really have an issue with that. What I don’t understand is why you’d share this with a writer and then not follow through. That’s my main concern.”
