“Only the heartless will ignore” – People said I can never be a model due to my disability

Zizipho, a beautiful South African lady, bravely shared her experience with criticism and challenges in an interview with Truly.

Despite facing negativity from people who told her she couldn’t be a model due to her appearance, Zizipho suffers from Phocomelia, a rare congenital condition where the proximal aspect of an extremity is absent, resulting in her hand or foot being attached directly to the trunk.

She revealed that her condition makes everyday tasks such as washing clothes, cooking, and walking long distances difficult for her.

How she feels with her condition, she said: “I wish i wasn’t born with disability because it would have made a lot of things easier for me and i also think sometimes that if i was able-bodied things would not have been how they are.”

“When i was growing up there are times that I don’t want to be around people now i want to be everywhere, i want you to see me.

“When i signed with a modeling agency last year after them seeing my profile on instagram, I used to dream about being a model all my life and people say I can’t be a model because you look like this.

“I started my social media in 2019, I need to get on this, show them we also have people that look like me that are also topping.

“I want to be somebody that inspire someone to live their lives despite their limitations loving yourself from the inside out.”
